HPD-1NR
ACC 314
Cell line:
HPD-1NR
DSMZ no.:
ACC 314
Species:
Syrian hamster (golden hamster) (Mesocricetus auratus)
Cell type:
pancreas ductal adenocarcinoma
Origin:
established from the pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma of a female Syrian (Golden) hamster (Mesocricetus auratus) induced by treatment with BHP (chemical carcinogen); sister cell line of HPD-2NR (DSM ACC 293); described in the literature to be homotransplantable (i.e. in other syngeneic hamsters) and to carry a mutation in exon 1 of the c-Ki-ras oncogene
Reference(s):
Biosafety level:

Permissions and restrictions:
DSMZ Cell Culture Data:
Morphology:
Medium:
80-90% RPMI 1640 + 10-20% h.i. FBS
Subculture:
split confluent culture before reaching confluence 1:2 to 1:4 every 3-6 days using trypsin/EDTA; seed out at about 2 x 106 cells/80 cm2; cells have a high metabolic activity acidifying the culture medium; exchange spent medium every 2 days
Incubation:
at 37 °C with 5% CO2
Doubling time:
ca. 60-70 hours
Harvest:
cell harvest of about 6-7 x 106 cells/80 cm2
Storage:
frozen with 70% medium, 20% FBS, 10% DMSO
DSMZ Scientific Data:
Mycoplasma:
negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization assays
Species validation:
Species-level identification was carried out by mitochondrial Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit 1 (COI) DNA barcoding according standard ANSI/ATCC ASN-0003-2015 and revealed Mesocricetus auratus species.
Cytogenetics:
near triploid highly rearranged karyotype with 36% polyploidy - 60-66<3n>XX, -X - hamster markers present - resembles published karyotype
Viruses:
ELISA: reverse transcriptase positive; PCR: SMRV -
