Subculture:
split culture 1:3 about 2-3 times per week before cells reach confluency; cells grow loosely adherent and can be detached from the plastic surface by shaking or pipetting; old cultures tend to form foci and lose adherence, but the cells remain attached to each other and are difficult to disperse
