Origin:
Established in 2012 from the brain tissue of a neonatal female C57BL/6 mouse in which a glioma was induced by intraventricular transfection of Sleeping Beauty (SB)-flanked mouse PDGF-B, silencing hairpin-RNA for p53 and NRas (V12). The cells express GFP and firefly luciferase.
In the brain of syngenic mice, the cells are described to grow invasively and aggressively, and these tumors are poorly immunogenic and resistant to checkpoint inhibition therapy.
The cell line was originally named SB28.
The addition "Ohlfest" in the name of the cell line is a dedication to brain tumor pioneer Dr. John Ohlfest, who died in 2013;
