At the DSMZ, the cyanobacterial cultures are usually cultivated without agitation in 25 cm2 plastic tissue culture flasks with filter screw caps. To subculture DSM 107014 scrape off the adhering cell material with a plastic Pasteur pipette and allow to sediment. Use 50% of the biomass to inoculate 15 ml of fresh medium in a new tissue culture flask. Light cycle: 16 hours of illumination at 50 lux and 8 hours dark period. Transfer interval of 8 weeks.
